I'm bleaching my roots this weekend, and I had been reading about the coconut oil trick, but none of the articles addressed bleaching as prep for vegetable dyes. You answered my questions and then some! (I even have everything I need on hand, which is always a bonus.) Thank you SO MUCH!the violet-haired vixenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03820291898109444658noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1765492702686359186.post-14215638855042312582015-04-26T00:59:57.685-07:002015-04-26T00:59:57.685-07:00Great info! Thank you. I'm going to be bleachi...Great info! Thank you. I'm going to be bleaching my dark brown hair tomorrow using ion ammonia free bleaching powder with 30 vol. Hopefully it will lift past the dark orange stage to a nice yellow. Going to use the coconut oil method you have described here. when bleaching I'll be making sure to stay at least 1/2 in from scalp and will add to roots once the rest of my hair is lifted to an Orange color. I want as even of a color as possible. Going to top off my new bleach job with manic panic purple haze after shampooing a couple times with clarifying formula . I hope the purple cancels out the yellow!
Wanted to add that I'm going to be experementing with a "cleansing conditioner" instead of the regular go to shampoo and conditioner routine to see if that helps retain the veggie dye better. I found a line called RenPure that is a decent price, under $12 (Walgreens sells it two for one). I bought it today and tested it out on my natural hair. My hair is typically very dry. This stuff made it very very soft. There are lots of other brands out there that carry cowash aka cleansing conditioner...I just happened to go with Renpure for price and relatively low toxicity rating on the cosmetic database website.

Hope this info is helpful to anyone reading! <3
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08593188176619494916noreply@blogger.com
