SpringFever VoxBox 2013

What's in the VoxBox:
Secret Outlast Clear Gel Antiperspirant/Deodorant $4.59
NYC New York Color Applelicious Glossy Lip Balm $2.99
Broadway Nails imPRESS Press-on Manicure $5.99-$7.99
Schwarzkopf Professional OSiS Gelastic $18.00
Tastykake Kandy Bar Kakes $4.49 per box

Broadway Nails imPRESS Press-on Manicure:

The sizes are more small nail friendly! The box says: it lasts up to a week, no drying time and easy removal. Some of the nails you may need to trim a piece sticking out. All of the nails are rounded except for those square thumbs. :(

Basically these can't hold up for normal everyday things. You NEED glue. I have no idea how you're able to do anything and try to keep these nails on. I was EXTREMELY gentle and that was really inconvenient when you have things to do and places to go.

The thumb nails popped off a few minutes after a quick hand wash.  I had these on for 4-5 hours and by the end of the night, I only had FOUR remaining. It wasn't as originally sticky when trying to press them back on. This really should have came with glue but then it couldn't be labelled as an easy removal. You can peel these off themselves, you don't need nail polish remover soaks or anything.

Schwarzkopf Professional OSiS Gelastic:

I'm super bummed that I got the gel. I have really long hair, what am I going to use gel for? :P   It's generally icky, sticky and gives crunchy waves.  But let's give this a shot anyway.

The bottle says you can use it on dry and damp hair!  This product smells great and has a good consistently. It's not too sticky.  I only used a little on dry hair, gave it some texture and looked somewhat fuller/thicker.

I used it lightly on damp hair to hopefully define waves/curls but once it had dried, it was pretty disgusting and hard. It felt greasy and weighed down! Immediately had to wash it out. :( This product will work best on shorter hair lengths that want texture and a strong hold.

3 stars only because it's too much of dry icky textured feel for my liking to use it regularly.

Tastykake Kandy Bar Kakes:

I don't really like chocolate anything and gave this to the boyfriend instead! He said it was pretty good but messy.  I can imagine this turning to moosh if you leave it out in the sun. Even then squishy gooeyness is good!

NYC Applelicious Glossy Lip Balm:

I received Big Apple Red.  What I love most about this lip balm is that it's a sheer red.  It smooths out my lips, gives it a little color and smells yummy! It's cheap so that means I can get more colors :3  It's my favorite lip balm now.

Secret Outlast Clear Gel Deodorant:

I'm VERY picky with deodorant. I honestly don't care about white streaks or if there's a fragrance:  I just DO NOT want to sweat.

I prefer using clear antiperspirants that actually does it's job!  This gel is clear and actually stays that way. I love the smell too! You can twist it out easily and it doesn't take forever to dry.  I hate gels that stay wet/gooey.   No more problems with that.  :D

Thrifting Thursdays/OOTD

It was super windy today! Crazy hair haha I am so glad that I actually tried on a number of items this time.  I wouldn't even consider tops with thin straps. That screams disaster waiting to happen but it was too much of an amazing and comfortable fit to pass up. This is my favorite now! I'll love more dresses with good coverage, cinched in waists (at the correct part!) and possibly huge pockets.  I barely even noticed this one had pockets in the dressing room. Such a nice surprise.

Ever since I stopped wearing jeans regularly, I haven't had any pockets. It takes awhile for me to realize that I'm trying to shove my phone in nowhere. Luckily I haven't dropped it yet! Right now I have my eyes on a certain MINT colored camera bag but I'm also wanting a new lens. How do I know which one to start with?  Both now please?!

How to CONTOUR [dodge + burn] in Photoshop.

Hello!  Here is a quick on how to contour or dodge & burn in Photoshop. This is how I contour portraits.  You can use this method for higher end skin retouching.

Press ALT & New Layer. Choose Mode: Soft Light and check Fill with soft-light netural color (50% gray)

Method 1:
Select the burn or dodge tool and make sure your exposure is 10-30%. Your brush size will vary depending on what you are contouring/highlighting.

Method 2:
Select the brush tool and choose black (darken) or white (brighten). Lower the opacity of the brush to 10-30%.

What should you contour?  Do anything that you want to pop!  I contour the cheeks,  eyeliner, brows, shadows and sometimes the edge for a light vignette.    I also do this to make hair more defined.

I make addionital contour layers for seperate things. For example: just the face, body, vignette, etc.

Lower the opacity of each layer if necessary.  You can also choose one contour layer and go to Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur  to soften it! The higher the radius,  the softer it will become.

I choose my dodge layer to be 80% with a Gaussian blur at 3.0.  One burn layer at 75% and the other at 80% with a Gaussian blur at 3.0.

Right click and duplicate your background layer.  Click on the top contour layer, press SHIFT & choose your background copy to select it all. Right click and merge layers.  You can toggle back and forth to your original to see if it's too intense. You can lower the opacity there too.

I merged all the layers and lowered it down to 75%.

I turned this into an action for you!

Birthday Wishlist //

GALAXY DRESS // GRACIE, JO TOTES // FUJI INSTAX 210 // HIGH WAIST SHORTS

I'll love more camera related things but I'm trying to be realistic haha.

A LARK IN THE PARK // PERFECTLY PASTORAL // POLKA DOT// STRIPED LACE

MORE SUMMER DRESSES PLEASE.   Which one is your favorite?

LIGHT PURPLE // BRIGHT PURPLE // DARK BROWN

I miss the purple hair sometimes so that middle one shall be mine eventually.

I'm pretty content clothing wise but I am always open to new things haha. Hello overflowing dresser. I am years overdo on that spring cleaning. More donating & less hoarding, right? My birthday is this Friday! I don't seem to have any set plans. I'll be good with a little adventure (probably thrifting) and food. But mostly food.

Last year's birthday post

My goals for this summer is to do as many shoots as possible, save up for that Jo Totes bag and own more shirts.     We have two cameras with their lenses on & 3 more lenses. Flash, chargers, batteries and anything else that can fit. That's way too much for a tiny shoulder bag.  I also MUST get out of my comfort zone and break away from those tank tops. There's certain tops and styles that I like but it's not flattering for my size or there's not enough breathing room or coverage. Why is it so complicated? Booo!

What's on your wishlist?

Happy Monday!

Style: Floral Dress & Comics

Dress: Thrifted// Shoes: Thrifted

Selfies in the front yard feel all ~forbidden~. If there's any confrontation then I'm out!  I live in this quiet neighborhood and people rarely ever come out anyways.

Last weekend it was free comic book day. Perfect time to get started, right? Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica are mine. I recently found out Hulu has Star Trek. Can I obsess now?! I've never really watched The Original Series. It was only playing at 5/6 in the morning while I was in middle school so it was near impossible to wake up to watch it.

Style: Thrifty

I wasn't expecting to spend any money yesterday but I found several things that actually fit me. Our last couple of visits I've walked out empty handed since I had no luck in finding anything decent. Sometimes items are overpriced especially for the most basic things.

I've been on the lookout for a new jacket. I barely saw it peek through the rack and immediately yanked it down to claim it then saw it was a size small.  Well, I didn't expect to zip it up anyways and for 10 bucks, it was mine!

And here are the brown shoes! :D

Things I didn't buy:

There's always so many things I like but have no use/room for.
