How to fix Blogger Syntax Error (with a new template)

Hello! I'm just sharing a fix for a Blogger error when you're uploading a new template especially third party ones. I have tried expanding the gadgets, reverting to using the Simple Template or reverting to Classic Templates option. None of those solutions have worked in this situation.

This has happened to me several times with my international customers!  It has left me stumped because I can upload it just fine in my own accounts. I'm not sure why they get an error. I wonder if it has any relation to them using their first language in Blogger and the gadgets are worded differently? I honestly don't understand this error or why it happens. I just know how to fix it.

We were unable to save your template.
Your template could not be parsed as it is not well-formed. Please make sure all XML elements are closed properly. XML error message: (SyntaxError) : Unexpected token <

Most importantly, you need to backup your previous template. Go to Template and click on the Backup/Restore button in the top corner. Choose "Download Full Template".

Please keep in mind if you are added something extra in your template like IntenseDebate (commenting system), javascript etc. That by uploading a new template, you will be losing those codes.

THE FIX:

1) Backup your gadgets and graphics. Copy & paste everything in your gadgets to a Notepad file or a Blog Post draft.

2) Now go to the folder where your new template is stored. Find the XML file and right click on it to choose "Open With".... Notepad!

3) Go to your blog, choose the Template tab and open Edit HTML. Paste the whole code in the box and do not press Save yet. Press CTRL + F and type in the box: PageList

You may need to scroll down and look for the highlighted code:

Change PageList1 to PageList2. Just change the number. Click save. There's your new template.

Every single time it has been the PageList gadget that has been causing this error. Hopefully this will help others!

Hask's Argan Oil & Keratin products review

Hask sent me several products to try out and review. This is a familiar brand to me! They make hair repair treatment packets that you can find in Sally's Beauty Supply like the placenta ones. I didn't know they had shampoo, conditioners and oils! I received the Argan Oil Repairing Shampoo + Conditioner, Keratin Smoothing Shampoo + Conditioner, Conditioning Treatments and Shine Oils.

It's been said already that I don't use shampoo. Products that contain sulfates remove hair color fast and make my hair dry. These Hask products do NOT contain sulfates so of course, I was super curious. It also doesn't contain parabens, phthalates, gluten, alcohol and artificial colors.  The bottle says it's an environmentally responsible forumla. They do not test on animals!!

I wash my hair every other day. I would recommend the same and at least once a week especially for products containing protein. Too much protein can make your hair difficult to manage and feel gross. Has anyone else gotten a little crazy with it before?

It's awesome that I got this bathroom caddy! Makes it much more convenient for me especially when there's no room to actually place these yet in the shower.

Argan Oil Repairing Shampoo and Conditioner

I have never used Argan oil before but have heard amazing things about it especially for curly hair. The shampoo was conditioning, lathered up nicely with a small amount and so far hasn't stripped out my color to pink yet! I would like to use this for months just to see if it's a perfect fit for color treated hair. My favorite about this is that it has a citrus scent. I really LOVE this conditioner. I can't stop touching my hair.  The first few times I'll wrap my hair up and then blow dry it.  Extremely soft and I get more volume from using these.  I have tried air drying as well and it's much more manageable.

Keratin Smoothing Shampoo & Conditioner

I did my roots and decided to dilute my dye with the Keratin Conditioner. It was the ultimate conditioning treatment. I forgot how much I loved using Keratin.  This made my hair much more manageable after a shower. I'm surprised I didn't wake up into a frizzy mess for putting my damp hair into a bun. If there's anything to make my hair even more low maintenance then I love it haha. Both are conditioning products but Argan wins for that extra volume!

Argan Oil Repairing Deep Conditioner

It says to leave it on for 10 minutes. I only used a small amount all over and my hair length is to the small of my back. I can only imagine how many uses you can get for shorter hair!   I would save this for a night of pampering or after bleachin + dying hair! I love the results.

Keratin Protein Smoothing Deep Conditioner

This one restored my hair after heat curls and bleaching my roots! Kept this one on for 15 minutes and got super soft results.  This deep conditioner reminds me of the packets you get after using box dye.  So conditioning.

Keratin Smoothing Shine Oil
It says you can use a dime size amount on dry or wet hair.  I'm too scared to try this out on dry hair. I applied a small amount on damp hair and let it dry down. I think letting it soak in would work better for my hair type. It felt smooth and surprisingly my hair dried a lot faster than normal.

Argan Healing Shine Hair Treatment

I curl my hair only once a week just to lessen damage. I used this before curling and after the second day!
It normally feels a little dry 2-3 days after using heat tools. This really helped it!! I already got comments about how shiny it is.

Overall... all of these products are amazing. I prefer using the Argan Oil for washing my hair, both of the conditioning treatments and the Argan shine oil. You can find out where to get these products here.

For someone that has damaged hair could get much more noticeable results using protein! Keratin restores, reduces frizz and strengths hair. If you don't plan to dye your hair after bleaching it then definitely use their deep conditioning treatment! I think you can find both products in the same store but just in case, use this link for those Keratin products.
